10 Paragliding Pilots

A lush green landscape with endless line choice, plentiful landing opportunities, friendly people, great retrieve infrastructure, and loads of fresh fruit awaits you in Colombia! Flying hours are abundant, relaxation time is top notch, and this place is the premium arena to practice and improve upon your XC skills in a forgiving environment! These days will be full of rewarding teamwork, learning and enjoyment. We strive to maximise airtime and quality time as well!
DAY 1
Airport reception in Bogotá. While we assemble our group, we may go out to have a traditional breakfast of soup in Colombia’s colourful capital city. Transfer to Pereira, and overnight there.
DAY 2
Early transfer to Piedechinche; a few hours to settle and get ready, and after a hearty brunch we are ready to hit the takeoff for our first taste of Colombian skies. Depending on weather we may set a practice task, or just do some free flying to get to know the area.
DAYS 3 - 4
Flying in Piedechinche - we will set fun tasks for our group depending on the experience of the participants; individuals are also always free to attempt to break their own personal bests and we will assist them in the planning and execution. As a group, our goal is to progressively improve our abilities in both mountain and flatland flying. This may include setting tasks with complicated transitions, or trying to utilise the day’s conditions to the maximum in terms of distance covered.
DAY 5
Transfer to Roldanillo. Free day for rest and relaxation. There is the possibility to do a tour around the area - there are many possibilities including waterfalls and hiking. Alternatively we can just relax in town, where the town’s square and Calle Ocho provide a colourful social scene full of international paragliding pilots. Roldanillo has a small but excellently-curated art museum, for those interested, it’s well worth a visit! We may also have dinner at a nice restaurant together, or choose to spend the afternoon with a motorcycle tour.
DAYS 6 - 9
Flying in Roldanillo - we will set increasingly challenging tasks for the group. When conditions allow it, we may even try to fly back to Piedechinche, a 100k+ flight ! The goal here will be to capitalise on the unique landscape and its line choice possibilities; first flying the mountains in the early morning and transitioning to the flatlands as the day develops. Roldanillo’s excellent retrieve infrastructure will allow us to make bolder choices in the flatlands, where low saves are very common! Each evening will include debriefings and analysis of our flying as our skills improve day by day. Our afternoons can be wonderful social opportunities, as the town is always full of pilots!
DAY 10
After a hearty and delicious breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to Roldanillo. Transfer to Pereira airport, to take our flight to Bogotá to connect with our flights back home.
